Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of the Graduate Program in Social Development and Management (PDGS) is to support the training of strategic leaders for the social management of territorial development and to contribute to the training of a qualified staff of development processes managers, who can act competently in institutions linked to organized society, companies, and governments, as well as in articulated socio-territorial processes.
 
The organization and functioning of the Program revolve around six objectives:
(1) To contribute to the training of a staff of qualified public and social managers for work on local, regional, national and international spheres, oriented to the convergence of actions for territorial qualification;
(2) To train managers in order to exercise leadership in transformation of the relations between State, society and market, contributing to the reconfiguration of the local public space;
(3) To train managers of business associative organizations with a focus on social environmental, and governmental responsibility at different spheres, contributing to territorial development;
(4) To train managers through the convergent use of communication technologies and applied technologies of public and social management to work in interorganizations and complex organizations with a focus on social issues.
(5) Ti train managers for the regulation and control of public policies, business and associative actions with a focus on territorial management.
(6) To train professors to manage the social development of territories, in different spheres and scales of action and multiple spaces of teaching and learning.
